Goals – every leader has them. It’s what keeps your business moving forward, it’s what makes us put our head down and bum up, it’s the reason some of us get out of bed in the morning. But, without progress towards achieving your goals, they are just pipedreams.
Need help achieving your goals? We share seven simple strategies to tick off yours.
1. One at a time
Nothing paralyses achievement quite like being overwhelmed by too-much-work syndrome. If you have more goals then achievements, decide which goal is priority and work towards that one first. Then, once achieved, you can focus your undivided attention on fulfilling the next, then the next.
2. Create motivation
Think about your goal. Why do you want to achieve it? How will it better your business? How will it better your life? Once you have the benefit (keep it realistic. Don’t fall for ‘the grass is greener on the other side’ trap), you’ll have the motivation to achieve it.
3. Step by step
Work out mini goals within the larger one. By breaking down the larger goals into smaller workable goals, the more manageable the larger goal is.
4. Make it measurable
If you can see the progress, the greater chance of working towards fulfilling the goal.
5. Say it out loud
Nothing motivates quite like sharing the goal and making promises to yourself and others publicly.
6. Wave, don’t drown.
Being a leader doesn’t mean doing it all. If others can help and are willing, don’t be afraid to utilise all resources available to you to achieve your goals.
7. Celebrations and rewards
Once you achieve your goal, celebrate. Then, work out what went right, what went wrong and what worked in achieving your goal. Once you know the best ways to achieve your goals, you’ll be better prepared to achieve the next.
So what are you waiting for? Go forth and start kicking those goals.
